Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Our commitment
CERTSYNC LIMITED wants CertSync to be usable by every electrical professional, whatever their ability or the technology they use. Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments, including anticipating barriers before anyone reports them, and we fix accessibility problems as defects.
Conformance status
We measure CertSync against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
CertSync is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
“Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform. The known gaps are listed below, and we are working to close them.
How CertSync supports access
CertSync is built with standard web semantics: headings in order, labelled controls and live announcements of important changes. In particular:
- Keyboard use: the application is designed to be operated by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator on interactive elements. We are not aware of any keyboard traps. Known exceptions are listed under Known accessibility issues.
- Skip link: a “Skip to main content” link is provided on the public site and in the dashboard.
- Colour and contrast: the colour palette is designed to meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, and information is not meant to rely on colour alone.
- Zoom and layout: text can be resized up to 200%, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops.
- Images: informative images are given text alternatives, and decorative images are meant to be hidden from assistive technology. Known exceptions are listed below.
Known accessibility issues
- PDF certificates: generated PDFs may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are improving their tagging and structure.
- Form error messages: on some certificate forms, error text is shown visually but is not linked to its field, so a screen reader may not announce it (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.1).
- Form labels: some form controls, mostly in the newer certificate types, do not yet have a programmatic label (success criteria 1.3.1 and 4.1.2).
- Collapsible sections and icons: some expand and collapse controls have no visible focus indicator, and some decorative icons are not hidden from assistive technology (success criterion 2.4.7).
- Complex forms and live updates: some certificate forms are complex to use with a screen reader, and changes made by other people editing at the same time may not always be announced.
- Photo upload: taking a photo with the camera may not work with every assistive technology. You can upload a file instead.
- Payments: the payment pages are provided by Stripe, which maintains their accessibility.
Assistive technologies and browsers
CertSync is intended to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and with the screen readers built into Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, or NVDA and JAWS on Windows. That is what it is designed for, not a list we have tested against: we have not formally tested each combination. If something does not work with your setup, please tell us and we will treat it as a defect.
The CertSync mobile apps
The CertSync apps for iOS and Android give access to the same Service as the website, and this statement applies to them too. The apps are designed to support:
- Larger text: the text size set on the device, through Dynamic Type on iPhone and iPad and the font size setting on Android;
- Screen readers: VoiceOver on iPhone and iPad, and TalkBack on Android.
“Designed to support” is not a claim of tested compatibility. Testing of the apps with these settings is ongoing, and we will update this statement as it is completed. If something in the app does not work with your text size or assistive technology, please tell us your device, its operating system version and the app version.
Testing and evaluation
We run automated accessibility checks (axe-core) on our pages and components before each release, and automated colour-contrast checks, and we check keyboard use and small screens by hand while building each screen. Automated checks do not find every problem.
Not yet done: we have not completed structured testing with individual screen readers, or an independent accessibility audit. We will update this statement when we have.
Feedback and contact
If you find a barrier, email us with “ACCESSIBILITY” in the subject line. Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use.
Accessibility contact
Email: support@certsync.co.uk
We aim to acknowledge your report within 2 working days and to tell you what we will do about it within 10 working days.
Reasonable adjustments and other formats
If you find something hard to use, or need information in another format (for example a large-print or plain-text version of a document, or a more accessible copy of a certificate PDF), email support@certsync.co.uk and tell us what would help. We will consider every request and make reasonable adjustments where we can, as section 20 of the Equality Act 2010 requires.
