Professional Disclaimers
Last Updated: 13 October 2026
Important Notice
This platform provides professional guidance tools only. All electrical work must be performed by qualified, competent electricians in accordance with current regulations.
Critical Safety Notice
CertSync provides certification software and reference information for qualified electricians only. CertSync does not give electrical advice or design services, and does not certify any installation: the person who signs a certificate does.
UK Legal Requirements
- Qualified Electricians Only: All electrical installation work must be carried out by electricians who are competent for the work, and either registered with a competent-person scheme or using building control.
- Qualifications Are Self-Declared, Not Verified: Users enter their own qualifications, competent-person scheme membership, and professional registration details when using the platform. CertSync does not verify these details against NICEIC, NAPIT, or any other scheme body, and does not confirm a user's competence to carry out the electrical work they certify. Users remain solely responsible for holding the qualifications and scheme membership their work legally requires.
- BS 7671 Compliance: All installations must comply with current BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
- Building Control: Notifiable electrical work requires building control notification or competent person scheme certification
- Health & Safety: Compliance with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 is mandatory
Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these disclaimers excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the paragraph above, our liability for the following is excluded or limited only as set out in clauses 13 and 14 of the Terms of Service:
- Errors or omissions in validation results or reference data
- Consequences of using information from this website
- Compliance failures or regulatory violations
- Property damage
- Financial losses resulting from use of these tools
Professional Consultation Required
Always consult qualified electrical engineers or electricians for:
- Installation-specific design requirements
- Regulatory compliance verification
- Safety-critical decisions
- Professional certification and sign-off
- Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) completion
- Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) assessments
Professional Standards
This platform:
- Provides reference tools for qualified professionals
- Does not replace professional judgment
- Requires independent verification of all outputs
- Should be used alongside current BS 7671 standards
- Is not a substitute for proper training and qualification
Compliance Validation Disclaimer
CertSync provides real-time compliance validation within certificate forms, automatically checking entered values (such as earth fault loop impedance, disconnection times, and test results) against BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 thresholds and principles.
- Validation results support, and do not replace, checking by a qualified person before any certificate is issued
- Validation checks are based on BS 7671 principles and may not cover all installation-specific requirements or edge cases
- Users are responsible for applying professional judgment when interpreting validation results
- Users should own a copy of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, available from the IET at https://electrical.theiet.org/bs-7671/, and consult it for authoritative values. CertSync does not reproduce the text of any standard
Photo Evidence Disclaimer
Photos uploaded to certificates through the Service are user-submitted and are not verified, reviewed, or validated by CertSync. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that photos accurately represent the installation, test setup, or condition being documented.
AI-Assisted Suggestions Disclaimer
Where the Service offers AI-assisted features, the output of those features is a suggestion only. It is generated by a third-party automated system, it is not verified, checked, approved or certified by CertSync, and it does not constitute electrical advice, an inspection, a test result, or a professional opinion. CertSync does not control what such a system produces and makes no representation that any suggestion is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for the installation in question.
AI-assisted output may be wrong in ways that are not obvious. It may describe a circuit, component, or condition that is not present in the photograph or record supplied; it may omit one that is; and it may express an incorrect result in confident and well-formed language. No AI-assisted feature infers, estimates or calculates a test reading. Where the Service offers capture of a reading from a photograph of an instrument display or from speech, the value is transcribed as displayed or spoken and is entered only once the user has confirmed it against the instrument, and no AI-assisted output is applied to a certificate without an affirmative act by the user.
A classification code, earthing arrangement, equipment detail or other value suggested by an AI-assisted feature is a starting point for the inspector's own assessment and not a finding. In particular, an earthing arrangement cannot be confirmed from a photograph and must be confirmed by inspection and measurement, and the code given to an observation must be decided by the inspector on the evidence at the installation.
Where the Service offers answers to questions about BS 7671 or another published standard, an answer is a pointer to the relevant regulation, section or table and is not the text of the standard. It may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and must be checked against the standard itself before it is relied on.
Text drafted by an AI-assisted feature for a certificate, such as a summary of the condition of an installation, becomes part of the certificate only when the inspector accepts it, and the inspector is then responsible for it as for anything else they write.
The competent person named on a certificate remains solely responsible for every value it contains, including any value originating from an AI-assisted suggestion that they chose to accept. Reviewing and correcting such a suggestion is part of that responsibility and is not transferred to CertSync by the use of the feature. CertSync's liability for any loss arising from reliance on AI-assisted output is limited as set out in clauses 13 and 14 of the Terms of Service.
