Offline working

Offline electrical certificates: work with no signal.

Create, fill in and open electrical certificates on site, in plant rooms, basements and remote locations where mobile signal is unreliable or absent. Drafts save automatically. Everything syncs when you reconnect.

What works without a connection

With no mobile signal you can open your dashboard, create and fill in certificates, and view completed work. CertSync keeps up to 50 recent completed certificates and up to 50 drafts on your device. Open a signed certificate while online, then pin it to keep it on your device. Drafts save as you type, and photos you take are held encrypted on the device. Everything syncs when you reconnect. Signing, approving and sending a certificate are completed once you are back on signal.

Keep certificates on-device

Can I keep certain certificates on my device?

Yes, by pinning them. The 50 completed certificates kept on your device are your most recently opened ones, and older ones may be cleared as new ones come in. If there are certificates you always need on site — a complex installation you return to, a key client site — you can pin them to keep them on your device permanently.

Pinned certificates are not affected by the recency cache. Open a signed certificate while online, then pin it to keep it on your device; it stays there until you unpin it.

Sync and photos

Sync is automatic, photos included.

When you reconnect — whether that is walking back to your van or driving off site — CertSync syncs your offline work automatically in the background. Your certificates are updated in the cloud and available to your team without any manual action on your part.

That includes photographs. A photo you take on a job with no signal is stored encrypted on the device and uploaded to the certificate on its own once you are back in range — you do not have to reopen the certificate to finish the job. The only limit is the space your device has available.

Best offline experience

Install CertSync to your home screen.

CertSync works in any modern browser, but installing it to your home screen gives the most reliable offline experience — on iOS in particular, Safari limits local storage for sites that are not added to the home screen, which can affect how much offline data is retained. The install takes about two minutes, straight from your browser.

Common questions

Offline working: questions answered.

How many certificates can I access without a signal?

Up to 50 recent completed certificates and up to 50 drafts are kept on your device, and certificates you pin stay there on top of that. Your dashboard, drafts and recent certificates all open without a network connection.

Can I create a new certificate without a connection?

Yes. You can start a new certificate and fill in the whole form with no signal. Drafts save on the device as you type, so there is no save button to remember. The certificate syncs when you reconnect. Signing, approving and sending are completed once you are back on signal.

What happens to work I do while offline?

Drafts auto-save locally while you type. When you reconnect, CertSync syncs your changes in the background — you do not need to do anything. If you were working on an existing draft, the server copy is updated automatically. If someone else changed it meanwhile, you choose which version to keep.

Can I choose which certificates stay on my device?

Yes. Open a signed certificate while online, then pin it to keep it on your device indefinitely. Pinned certificates stay available offline however many certificates you open afterwards. They are not pushed out by the 50-certificate recent list.

Do photo uploads work without a signal?

Yes. Photos you take without a signal are stored encrypted on your device and upload on their own as soon as you reconnect — you do not have to go back into the certificate. The only limit is the space your device has available.

How does sync work when I reconnect?

Sync happens automatically in the background as soon as you have a connection. You do not need to trigger it manually. Once complete, your certificates are updated in the cloud and available to your team.

Do I need to install CertSync as an app to use it offline?

CertSync works in any modern browser. Installing it to your home screen gives the most reliable offline experience on iOS (where Safari limits storage for non-installed apps). The install takes about two minutes, straight from your browser; the install guide at certsync.co.uk/install shows the steps for each phone and browser.
