Electrical job tracking: one job, every site, one end date.
Job tracking in CertSync gives every electrical job one record: the customer, the sites it covers, a status you move it through, and an end that only comes when you mark it complete. A rewire across forty plots is one piece of work, not forty.

The job, and what it carries
- One project for one customer, covering one of their addresses or forty.
- A status you move the job through, and a close that you make on purpose.
- Scheduled and due dates, a materials list, and notes that stay with the job.
- Overdue and at-risk jobs flagged on the job list and your dashboard.
- Installers see the jobs they are booked on. Admins and office staff see every job.
From first visit to closed job, in five steps
The same order most electrical contractors already run a job in. CertSync holds each step in one record instead of a whiteboard, a diary and a group chat.
- Create the jobGive it a name, choose the customer, and tick the sites it covers from the addresses already saved against that customer. Add a scheduled date and a due date if you have them; the due date cannot be set before the start. A job with no sites yet can be created now and have its sites added later.
- Put people on itBook each person onto the days they are on site. That is the schedule, covered on its own page, and it is what lets an installer see the job on their phone.
- Run the workMove the status as the job moves: in progress when the first van arrives, on hold while you wait for a part or an answer from the customer. Keep the materials list and the notes on the job, not in a separate notebook.
- File the certificates under itEach certificate you write for the job can be filed under the project, so the paperwork for every site sits in one list.
- Close it when it is finishedMark the job complete yourself. Before you do, CertSync lists any certificate on the job that is still unsigned or records a C1 or C2 observation, and says why. It is a warning, not a lock: you decide.
A job closes when you close it
CertSync never marks a job complete for you. Sending some of its certificates does not finish it, and nor does a quiet week. It stays open until somebody closes it, so your live-work list only holds live work, including the job waiting on a part and the one where the customer has gone quiet.
- Scheduled
- Planned, not started. A new job begins here.
- In progress
- Work has started on site.
- On hold
- Paused, for a part, an access date or a customer decision. A job on hold still counts as late if it passes its due date.
- Complete
- Somebody with office rights marked it finished. It can be reopened, and goes back to in progress.
- Cancelled
- The job is not going ahead. It stays on record and can be restored to scheduled.
Jobs running late find you
Give a job a due date and CertSync watches it. A job past its date is flagged as overdue, one due today says so, and one due in the next few days is marked at risk. The flags show on the job list, on the job itself and on your dashboard, so the jobs worth a phone call surface without opening every record.
A job on hold is not let off: if it passes its due date it is flagged like any other. The dashboard also shows a completion rate: of the work in play plus the jobs you finished recently, how much is done. Old jobs from last year do not flatter it.
Office decisions stay with the office
Admins, office staff and supervisors with Office access create, edit, close, reopen and cancel jobs. People booked on a job can move its working status and add notes, so the person on site can say it is on hold without phoning in. They cannot create, close or cancel a job.
Admins and office staff see every job in the team. Everyone else sees the jobs they are booked on. Being on a job says who is doing the work; it does not widen which certificates a person can open. That still follows the same rules as the rest of your certificates.
Firms running more than one job at once
Job tracking earns its place once there is more work than one person can hold in their head: a contractor running a new-build development plot by plot, a firm doing a rewire programme for a housing provider, an electrician carrying out a letting agent's batch of periodic inspections across different addresses, or a team on a commercial fit-out with phases that start and stop.
Already have a certificate for a customer with no job yet? From the certificate you can start a project for that customer and carry on from there. A sole trader who only needs certificates can stay on Core; job tracking is part of CertSync PRO. See pricing for what a team of your size costs.
What job tracking does not do
It does not raise quotes or invoices, connect to accounting software, or cost a job. It tracks the work and the paperwork that belongs to it.
Questions about tracking electrical jobs
What is job tracking in CertSync?
A project record for each job: one customer, the sites the job covers, a status, scheduled and due dates, a materials list and notes. It shows where every job stands without ringing round, and it is part of CertSync PRO.
Can one job cover several addresses?
Yes. A job belongs to one customer and can include as many of that customer's saved sites as the work covers, so a forty-plot rewire or a landlord's batch of inspections is one job rather than forty.
What happens if I close a job with certificates still unsigned?
Before you confirm, CertSync lists the certificates filed under the job that are unsigned or record a C1 or C2 observation, and says why each one is listed. It does not stop you closing. Closing also takes the job off the schedule from tomorrow onwards, and the people who were booked on those days are told.
Can a closed job be reopened?
Yes. Closing is a status, not a delete. A completed job can be reopened and goes back to in progress. A cancelled job can be restored to scheduled. Days that were removed from the schedule when it closed are not put back, so you book people again on purpose.
Can installers see every job?
No. Admins and office staff see every job in the team. Everyone else sees the jobs they are booked on. Being booked onto a job does not change which certificates a person can open.
Does job tracking work with no signal?
Your job list is stored on your device, so you can read it with no signal. Opening a particular job needs a connection. If one is already open when the signal drops, you can change its status or add notes, and both sync when you reconnect. Creating or editing a job waits for a signal.
